The Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra is pleased to announce the appointment of Yariv Aloni as Music Director, effective July 1, 2010. We are most fortunate that our Orchestra will be led by someone who is familiar with the orchestra and its players, and who studied conducting under his great friend and mentor, our former Music Director, the late János Sándor.

Welcome!

“To hear such talent, to see such passion and commitment and joy, one could not help but be fully uplifted.”

Betty Hampton, Former Executive Director, Comox Youth Music Centre

Founded in 1986, the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra has been producing outstanding orchestral music for over twenty years. Season after season, the GVYO presents a truly impressive range of repertoire to Victoria’s audiences, sharing their magnificent music with school children at home and as far afield as Haida Gwaii (2001) and the Yukon Territory (2006).

Guided by internationally acclaimed conductors and coaches, the orchestra is proud of the many opportunities it offers young, dedicated musicians. GVYO alumni can be found in prestigious schools, ensembles, and orchestras throughout the world. Join us this season, and be uplifted by the passion our youth bring to the world’s best music!
