Summer String Camp
“I had so much fun. It's definitely the highlight of my summer!”
“The music selected is always really fun and the coaches are awesome!”
“I think the camp was challenging, a lot of fun, and good for building up confidence.”
“[My favorite parts of the camp were] chilling out with friends, meeting new
people, the music… pretty much the whole experience!”
These are just a few of the comments we got from participants at the end of Summer String Camp 2011.
The fourth annual GVYO Summer String Camp took place July 18-23, 2011 at the School of Music, University of Victoria. GVYO Music Director Yariv Aloni led 23 string players, aged 11-20, assisted by an inspiring team of Coaching Faculty, and senior GVYO players and alumni. The camp ran Monday through Friday 9am-12:30pm, and Saturday 10am-2pm with a Finale Concert at 1 pm that day.
“Make sure it happens next year!”
Keep an eye out for information about next year's Summer String Camp, which will take place in July 2012! Current and prospective GVYO members are welcome to attend, as are all interested players of violin, viola, cello and bass who play at a level comparable to Conservatory Grade 6 or higher. Spend a week working with high calibre coaches and mentors, develop your orchestral skills and experience, and be part of an awesome string ensemble!
